Pomegranate Flower Extract does not Prevent Cisplatin-Induced Nephrotoxicity in Female Rats.

  • Sima Jilanchi‎ et al.
  • International journal of preventive medicine‎
  • 2014‎

Nephrotoxicity is the major side-effect of cisplatin (CDDP), and it is reported to be gender-related. We evaluated the effects of pomegranate flower extract (PFE) as an antioxidant on CDDP-induced nephrotoxicity in female rats.

The Role of Gamma Amino Butyric Acid in Cisplatin-induced Nephrotoxicity in Streptozotocin-induced Diabetic Rats.

  • Masoomeh Nasiri‎ et al.
  • Advanced biomedical research‎
  • 2017‎

Diabetes mellitus can change the risk of developing cancer. Cisplatin (CP) is a common antineoplastic drug. The major side effect of CP is nephrotoxicity. Gamma amino butyric acid (GABA) is an antioxidant agent that may have a protective role against CP-induced nephrotoxicity. The aim of the present study was to investigate the role of GABA in CP-induced nephrotoxicity in hyperglycemic male and female rats.

Zinc Supplementation and Ischemia Pre-conditioning in Renal Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury.

  • Bahar Mazaheri‎ et al.
  • The Malaysian journal of medical sciences : MJMS‎
  • 2019‎

Renal ischemia/reperfusion (RIR) is a major cause of kidney dysfunction in clinic. The main objective of this study was to investigate the effect of pre-conditioning ischemia (IPC) and zinc (Zn) supplementation on renal RIR injury.

Effect of angiotensin II type 1 receptor blockade on kidney ischemia/reperfusion; a gender-related difference.

  • Fatemeh Moslemi‎ et al.
  • Journal of renal injury prevention‎
  • 2016‎

Renal ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury may be related to activity of reninangiotensin system (RAS), which is gender-related. In this study, it was attempted to compare the effect of angiotensin II (Ang II) receptor type 1 (AT1R) blockade; losartan in I/R injury in male and female rats.

Effect of testosterone on Cisplatin-induced nephrotoxicity in surgically castrated rats.

  • Bahar Rostami‎ et al.
  • Nephro-urology monthly‎
  • 2014‎

  • 2022‎

Cisplatin (CP) is widely used to treat various kinds of malignancies, but to avoid its side effects of nephrotoxicity and hypomagnesemia, magnesium supplementation is a subject of debate. The current study was designed to determine the protective role of intravenous magnesium sulfate (MgSO4) against intravenous administration of CP in male and female rats.

The role of S-methylisothiourea hemisulfate as inducible nitric oxide synthase inhibitor against kidney iron deposition in iron overload rats.

  • Maryam Maleki‎ et al.
  • Advanced biomedical research‎
  • 2016‎

Iron dextran is in common use to maintain iron stores. However, it is potentially toxic and may lead to iron deposition (ID) and impair functions of organs. Iron overload can regulate the expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) in some cells that has an important role in tissue destruction. S-methylisothiourea hemisulfate (SMT) is a direct inhibitor of iNOS, and this study was designed to investigate the effect of SMT against kidney ID in iron overload rats.
