Nephroprotection of lacidipine against gentamycin-induced nephrotoxicity in albino rats.

Sahar Kamal
Journal of experimental pharmacology | 2010

Gentamycin, a widely-used aminoglycoside antibiotic, is recognized as possessing significant nephrotoxic potential in human beings. Gentamycin-induced nephrotoxicity is suggested to be mediated via reactive oxygen species. The present study investigated the possible antioxidant nephroprotective effect of lacidipine as a calcium-channel blocker in a gentamycin-induced nephrotoxicity model in albino rats.
