The Predicting Risk of CVD Events (PREVENT) equations were developed to address limitations of the Pooled Cohort Equations (PCEs) in predicting atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) risk. The comparative effectiveness of the PREVENT equations versus the PCEs in predicting mortality risk remains unknown.
