Notes: This strain has been selected for high open-field defecation (a test of emotional reactivity). The underlying genetic basis for this phenotype is not known. Originally selected by Broadhurst in 1954 for high open-field defacation (OFD) response in an open field. This MR is the parent to MR substrains maintained in other institutions.
