Notes: At the Center for Experimental Plants and Animals, Hokkaido University, LEC, along with LEA, was established from a closed colony of Long-Evans rats obtained from Kobe University in 1975. In 1984, within the LEC rats of their F24 generation, a rat exhibiting spontaneous hepatitis with severe jaundice was found (Yoshida, 1987). The LEC was available from Charles River Japan, Inc., Kanagawa, as of spring, 1991. National BioResource Project for the Rat in Japan
