Description: Core facility that provides the following services: Research equipment design and fabrication service, Sample collection service, Animal transporting/shipping service, Animal handling and husbandry service, Breeding colony management service. Animal Quarters (AQ) provides safe and sanitary facilities for animal research projects in accordance with the Animal Welfare Act, Public Health Service Policy, National Institutes of Health Guidelines for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals and the UAF Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee. Housed animals include arctic ground squirrels, laboratory mice, red-backed voles, syrian hamsters, American widgeon, northern shovelers, lesser scaup, greater scaup, northern pintail, green-winged teal, zebrafish, sticklebacks, bettas, and black bears.
