In 1921, Little used a mouse strain of Abby Lathrop, and female 57 was mated with male 52 to obtain C57BL. In 1937, two subfamilies, C57BL/6 and C57BL/10, were isolated from C57BL. In 1985, the strain was sent from Olac to the Institute of Laboratory Animals of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences. In April 2015 and again in June 2018, Vital River imported the strain from the National Rodent Laboratory Animal Seed Center. Strain Name: C57BL/6JOlaCnc. Synonyms: C57BL/6Cnc. MGI ID MGI:6331559

Transcription factors of the nuclear factor κ B (NFB)/Rel family play a pivotal role in inflammatory and immune responses (1,2). There are five family members in mammals: RelA, c-Rel, RelB, NFB1 (p105/ p50), and NFB2 (p100/p52). Both p105 and p100 are proteolytically processed by the proteasome to produce p50 and p52, respectively. Rel proteins bind p50 and p52 to form dimeric complexes that bind DNA and regulate transcription. In unstimulated cells, NFB is sequestered in the cytoplasm by IκB inhibitory proteins (3-5). NFκB-activating agents can induce the phosphorylation of IκB proteins, targeting them for rapid degradation through the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway and releasing NFB to enter the nucleus where it regulates gene expression (6-8). NIK and IKKα (IKK1) regulate the phosphorylation and processing of NFB2 (p100) to produce p52, which is then translocated to the nucleus (9-11).

Tamoxifen

Tamoxifen is a selective estrogen response modifier (SERM), protein kinase C inhibitor and anti-angiogenetic factor. Tamoxifen is a prodrug that is metabolized to active metabolites 4-hydroxytamoxifen (4-OHT) and endoxifen by cytochrome P450 isoforms CYP2D6 and CYP3A4. In breast cancer, the gene repressor activity of tamoxifen against ERBB2 is dependent upon PAX2. Blocks estradiol-stimulated VEGF production in breast tumor cells.
